‘nova’ vs ‘nova-manage’ in openstack

Two important commands in openstack are ‘nova’ and ‘nova-manage’. While ‘nova’ is an end user command to communicate with nova Compute API, ‘nova-manage’ is an administrative command for the ongoing maintenance of nova, such as user creation, vpn management, and much more. ‘nova’ command by itself cannot create/ control VM, its only job is to issue a REST call to nova-compute API server and display the result back to the client.
